6 weeks...

Peyton is six weeks old today! He's growing and developing new skills everyday....it really does happen as fast as everyone says! The pictures above are of the little man with his newest skills, lifting his head on his own (hanging out with Dad on the couch here) and smiling/ laughing at us (we put these Crocs on his feet and were laughing when he decided to join in with us, don't worry, they're too big for him to wear yet!). I also included a picture of all of us on Dale's new ship. We are so blessed to have such a happy little boy. He is beginning to sleep more at night which is really nice for us. His longest stretch so far has been six and a half hours!

I went to the doctor today for my six week post partum check-up. There's not much for me to report, I'm recovering well. I do have to go in for a follow-up for my gestational diabetes and low iron count. I am excited to report that I only have 17 more pounds to lose before I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight, not bad considering I gained 55 during the pregnancy! I have also been released to exercise as much as I want! I'm looking forward to doing more than walking again!

We also met with the lactation consultant regarding a couple of concerns I had...and we weighed the little man while we were there! I'm happy to let you all know we officially have a porker on our hands! Peyton already weighs 11 pounds and 4 ounces! He is starting to outgrow some of his newborn size clothes and move into 1-3 month clothes! He is definitely getting PLENTY to eat (this was my concern, like most first time breastfeeding mothers!).

Dale's work is going wonderfully, he is OOD qualified, which means less nights at home alone for me and Peyton! I plan on going to Tennessee so everyone can meet/ see Peyton in August since Dale will be on patrol.

Peyton goes back to the pediatrician in August for his two month appointment, he'll be getting a few shots then :( I'll update the blog then. Take care!

Love,

Dale, Erica and Peyton

Two Weeks Old!!!

Here's Peyton at two weeks old waiting patiently for the doctor to come in for his check up....he may be a little cold! The doctor was very pleased with how well Peyton is developing. He weighed in at 9 pounds, 4 ounces and is 21 inches long! His melon is 15 inches in circumference....yet another trait he gets from his dad, a big head!

Peyton's newest hobby is taking shots at his dad and anyone else (but Mom) while having his diaper changed. Dale gets peed on usually about once a day, and Peyton usually has a coy smile on his face when it happens. He also took a shot at the nurse and doctor at his appointment yesterday! Dale and I are so lucky to have such a happy, healthy baby who is truly a joy to be around!

Nighttime hasn't been too rough on us, he usually wakes once in the middle of the night to eat (with no crying, just cooing and sucking his hands) and once early in the morning before taking an early morning nap....Mom usually catches up on her z's then. Nursing is going well, we are establishing a bit of a routine, but occasionally have moments that we're trying to get used to it. Peyton and I take daily walks here at the apartment complex to look at the trees and whatever else catches his eye, and then usually inside for a nap because it's too warm to stay outside for hours. Dale started work on his ship this week and is enjoying all the new people and challenges he will face. He gets home in the afternoon and spends his time playing with Peyton and getting peed on...which is very entertaining for me! I love seeing the two of them together, it's the best feeling in the world to see the two men in my life enjoying each other's company so much!

That's about all that's new here, we're all feeling well! We'll update again soon. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers! Life couldn't be better in the Kozacek household!
